{Think Outside the Blog} See Vanessa Craft

Hello! This is Ashley's friend Rachel, from Family Ever After. We all love and adore Ashley. While she is taking some time off, I've organized a series involving some of her favorite bloggers. Over the next couple weeks, you can check in with some of the internet's most adored bloggers, and find out what makes them think outside the blog. We love you Ashley, and look forward to your return!

Today's guest is Vanessa from See Vanessa Craft!!!

Hey guys! I'm Vanessa from See Vanessa Craft and I'm honored to be guest blogging for Ashley (my prayers and condolences to her and her family during this difficult time). Let's see, what inspires me outside of my blog? My blog has become such a huge part of who I am, my second baby, but there is more to me than just what you read on the computer screen. Here are the top 4 things that motivate me.

My kiddo is my biggest inspiration. Here I thought I was the one that was going to be doing the teaching, and I find that I've learned the most about life and myself from my toddler. He's funny, sensitive, sweet and so smart. I'm not biased or anything. It's been amazing watching his imagination and creativity take shape, who couldn't be inspired by that!

My family has taught me that it's OK to color outside of the lines. I come from a long line of creative genes. My dad is the most amazing tin artist and my mom is the royal icing queen (check out her amazing Minnie cookies). My hubby is also pretty creative himself and can draw just about anything. I'm grateful to be surrounded by so many creative people who support and love me.

Being active has become a huge part of my life. I NEED to workout, and I'm a much happier mama when I take that time for myself at the end of busy day. I recently lost 20lbs and I'm still going. I just joined an 8 week mama boot camp and the other ladies in the group have pushed me beyond what I thought I could do (like signing up for my first 5k at the end of the month). My main goal is to be healthy and to be a good example for my child, but I wouldn't mind being able to squeeze into a size 4 jeans again someday. Surprisingly, I get tons of new crafty ideas while I'm working out. So much so that I now carry a little notebook in my gym bag so I can quickly jot down my creative ideas before I forget them.

My friends feed my creativity. I'm not just talking about my in real life pals (they rock too), I'm also talking about the friends that live in my computer (like Ashley and Rachel). The craft community that we have out here in blogland is the most supportive, kindhearted, inspiring group of people I've ever "met". I'm grateful to be a part of it!

I'd love for you to visit my blog and hopefully it will inspire you. Here are a couple of my most recent crafty projects (just click on the photo to get to the tutorial):
