***Spoiler alert*** If your name is Jeff and you happen to be my husband... Quit reading this post!! ;)
This year for Valentine's Day, I decided to do the 14 days of Valentine for my husband... I made it ahead of time in case anyone else wanted to jump on the band wagon and do the 14 days of Valentines for their Valentine too...
Here is what I came up with... A lot of it is super cheesy, but that's how we roll in this house.
I tried to get most of the things that I bought from the dollar store to keep the cost minimal, but I did splurge on a couple items.
So here are each of the days... I am numbering the days so that it is easy to understand, but I am not necessarily doing them in any certain order, just kinda giving what I feel when the days come.
Day 1: You "ROCK" my world.
For this day, I got pop rocks, but you could get anything else that worked as well- like a cd, movie (like School of Rock), etc. I am pretty sure that my husband would suggest a Gibson Les Paul guitar for himself... One day I will surprise him with that... for now, pop rocks are fitting with our budget! ;)
Day 2: I'm so "fortunate" to have you.
I got the idea from Martha. She has a tutorial to make these felt fortune cookies... So cute! I am going to make a few more to fill up the box and write fortunes on strips of white paper. Should be fun coming up with funny fortunes- especially if you are like my family and have to say the phrase "in bed" after each fortune! ha ha;)
Day 3: "A little birdie told me that you were looking for a Valentine... How about you "chews" me...
I tied mine to pink gum, but you could tie this to anything chewy and it would work great.
Day 4: Love Potion no. 9
I tied mine to pink gum, but you could tie this to anything chewy and it would work great.
Day 4: Love Potion no. 9
I picked up a case of the strawberry crush for one of the other days and just cheated and took one of the bottles out to use for this one. I just wrapped and taped the label around the bottle.
Day 5: "I love your more than Chocolate"
You could tie this onto anything chocolate...
Day 6: You make my heart "bounce".
I got these bouncy balls in the party section of Walmart for a buck for all 4 of them, but you could tie this one onto anything bouncy- like a basket ball, yoga ball (if your Valentine needs one for yoga;), or if you wanna go even cheesier- Bounce laundry stuff.. ha ha.
Day 7: I "heart" you.
I splurged on this one... 7.99 for Dove chocolates... Is it bad that I probably plan on eating most of these?? ha ha
You could get the conversation hearts, or anything valentine-y with hearts on it for this one.
Day 8: Have a great day "cupcake".
I plan on making these xoxo cupcakes , and I found this cute cupcake box at the dollar store... There were two different boxes that came in a package for a buck. Steal!
Day 9: You are one "hot tamale"!
My husband actually hates these, but since he is the Hottest Tamale I have ever seen, I couldn't pass them up at the dollar store. Plus hot tamales are my favorites! (again... I admit that I will be eating them;) ha ha
Day 10: Howdy Partner- What are the chances I have a "shot" at being your valentine?
I splurged on this one... I thought about going with a dollar store gun, but my husband is a sucker for nerf guns- so I got one. If your hubby likes hunting/guns in general- you could REALLY be generous and get the real thing... Lucky for me, my husband isn't into either- so a nerf will suffice;)
Day 11: I've got a "crush" on you
I went with the strawberry flavor to keep with the red/pink theme, but you could totally get the orange if you would rather (and it doesn't have to be the glass bottles... I just got them so I could use one of them for the love potion)
Day 12: It's a "treat" being your valentine.
I am such a sucker for "mini" versions of things... I found this mini bag of Lindor Truffles at the dollar store... I think it has 3-4 mini truffles in it, so it is just a tiny treat, but I couldn't pass it up. You could get your Valentine's favorite treat for this day.
Day 13: "10 things I love about you"
I got this jar from the dollar store and them I cut up 10 pieces of paper to write down the 10 things I love most about my hubby and then folded them up and put them in the jar.
Day 14: "I love you, Valentine. xoxo"
This is the tag to tie to whatever you give your Valentine on Valentines day... I am still trying to decide what I am giving my hubby, but whatever it is, I am just planning on wrapping it up cute and trying this tag to it.
That night, I am planning to cook a yummy dinner and have a romantic candle lit dinner for 4 (yep... my 2 kids are invited). Over the years we have stopped trying to go out into the madness on V-Day night... It is crazy! Plus finding a babysitter on a school night is always tricky... So we usually have dinner with the kids and then put them to bed and have our alone time... So that's the plan for this year! :)
Extra Day: If there was a day or theme that you didn't want to use, you could make the Valentine's Coupon Book that I made my husband for one of the days instead...
So if you wanna follow along and do the 14 days of Valentines, here are the 3 sheets you will need. To print, click on the "download here" link under each image. All I ask is that you become a follower of my blog (either by email or gfc) before printing! Thanks!!
Hope your Valentine enjoys!!

This is so cute. Love your idea. One year my husband and I were in a motel on trip home and when he woke up on Valentine's Day to a room I had decorated during the night. I had put streamers on bathroom mirror, and stuck old fashioned kid's valentines around the room. He was quite surprised. And was a good thing he was a sound sleeper LOL.

ReplyDeleteAshley - I LOVE this and tried to print them this morning but they came out "fuzzy". What am I doing wrong? Thanks SO much for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteHey Nancy... I am sorry that it printed out fuzzy! My printer at home is not very good so I have never tried to print from my printer, but whenever I print them I take them to Fed Ex of Kinkos and they always print perfectly... I am new to making printables, so I am just kinda teaching myself, but I will have to look into it and make sure that I am sharpening the images correctly so that they print out good for everyone! Thanks for letting me know! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOk Nancy- I changed the format for printing so it should print clearer for you! Let me know if it works!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAshley - They look a TON better! Thanks so much. They still are not as "crisp" as they should be. I use my printer to print things that I have downloaded all of the time, so I know it isn't my printer. But, they do look tons better so that I can use them. What a talent you have to think of these darling things and then create them. Thanks for making all of us "moochers" look good. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this wonderful idea. I found this on pinterest, and am looking forward to doing it for my hubby. Thanks again!

ReplyDeleteAshley, for a young, little sprite, you inspire me! LOL I decided, after my husband's twinkle in his eye this morning, that I had to drop you a line. What a perfect lead-in to Valentine's Day (!), and I knew we would giggle our way through 14 days. It's the little things in life that mean SO much. DH & I have been married 34 years and, yes, you still need those little things after all those years! :)) Thank you ~

I came here from Queen of Scrapbooking (went there on a blog hop) and WOW, am I ever glad I did!! Just the little I've looked around here it looks like there will be LOADS of great ideas and sources and inspiration to be found. I also am interested in many different crafts - cardmaking, scrapbooking, sewing, quilting, painting, etc. Unfortunately, at the moment I am more "crafter in my heart" than in actual application. Seeing your site might just get me to squeeze more crafting into my small bits of free time. I definitely will be back - have joined as a Follower AND bookmarked your site in my Favorites. :)
